Amerec Sauna Package Specification Sheet
GENERAL: Sauna room(s) shall be manufactured by Amerec.
The following specifications include design parameters for Amerec Panel
Built Modular saunas, as well as for Amerec Custom Cut material packages.
WORK TO BE DONE BY OTHERS: All work set forth below will
be included under other sections for the specifications:
For all
Amerec sauna types:
1. Finish painting and/or staining of exterior
surfaces.
2. Subfloor and/or foundation work.
3. All electrical work
from supply, including connections to control, heater and light.
For Amerec Custom Cut saunas:
4. Installation of stud walls (or furrings strips) and
ceiling joists.
5. Installation of insulation between wall studs and
ceiling joists.
6. Installation of ventilation system.
CODE REQUIREMENTS: All materials, components and work
shall conform to all applicable local, state and federal building and
safety codes, ordinances and regulations.
TYPE CONSTRUCTION: AMEREC CUSTOM CUT MATERIAL PACKAGES
(for installation on previously framed walls)
Wall framing shall be on 16" centers. Standard framed wall
shall have 2" x 4" studs, bottom base plate treated, and ceiling lowered
to 84" I.D. from floor to framing. Existing masonry walls shall have
furrings strips on 16" centers; metal studs shall have furring strips—for
nailing of T&G wall boards. Maximum ceiling height 96".
Walls and ceiling shall be insulated with R13 rated
fiberglass insulation, with foil vapor barrier (foil provided by
Amerec).
When ordering: sauna material package, shall be Amerec
model CC________ . Provide interior dimensions of the framed space,
indicate direction of ceiling joists, and swing of door.
Walls and ceiling interior materials shall be 1" x 4"
(nominal) or 1" x 6" (nominal) V-joint, kiln dried to 11% or less, T&G
Select European Alder or Western Red Cedar. Boards to be blind nailed
using 5p galvanized nails, or comparable galvanized staples. Wallboards
applied horizontally unless specified otherwise.
TYPE CONSTRUCTION:
AMEREC PANEL BUILT AND SIGNATURE SAUNA PACKAGES (free-standing, modular
units).
No framed walls are required for Amerec Panel-Built
packages. Install on any level, water proof floor.
Wall and ceiling panels shall be framed of 2" x 2"
framing, insulated with fiberglass batts, vapor barrier of Type C Reynolds
Building Foil. Panel interior and exterior shall be lined with 1" x 4" or
1" x 6" (nominal), kiln dried, Select Western Red Cedar (or other woods of
your choice). Optional: panel exterior can be 1/4" smooth Luan Plywood on
walls to be hidden or walls to be covered with drywall, tile, or
wallpaper.
TYPE CONSTRUCTION: ALL TYPES — CUSTOM CUT AND PANEL BUILT
BENCHES: Shall be preassembled by Amerec. Standard width equals 24". Face
and Tops of clear, 1" x 4", kiln-dried Select European Alder or Clear
Western Red Cedar S4S. Internal frames of Whitewood or Western Red Cedar
2" x 4"; internal cross framing of clear 1" x 4" Aspen or Cedar. Tops
fastened from bottom with stainless steel screws. Bench supports of
kiln-dried Pine or Western Red Cedar 2" x 4".
Backrests: S4S clear Select European Alder and Western Red
Cedar, full length of each upper bench.
INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR TRIM: Corner and cove molding of
clear, kiln-dried Select European Alder or Western Red Cedar. Panel Builts
also include fascia of same material.
HEATER GUARD RAIL: Shall be constructed of clear Select
European Alder or Western Red Cedar, to surround heater. Dimensions shall
match UL requirements for proper spacing between heater and guard
rail.
DOOR: Amerec Model AG 24/80: a 2'0" x 6'8" all-glass door
(no wood on the door portion), using 5/16" bronze tinted, tempered glass,
mounted on 51/8" mahogany jamb (also available AG 24/72). Shall be one of
three standard Amerec types. Amerec Model G2 24/80: 2'0" x 6'8" of
vertical grain Douglas Fir rails with sealed, double pane, tempered glass
window (15" x 64"), prehung on mahogany jamb; or Amerec Model G1 24/80:
2'0" x 6'8" hand-crafted, triple thick, clear Western Red Cedar door, with
sealed, double pane, tempered glass window (window size may range from 12"
x 12" to 16" x 60"), prehung on mahogany jamb;
All doors include
handles, casing, jamb, and threshold. Hardware on wood doors to include
standard hinge and catches. Handicap accessible commercial sauna doors
available.
SAUNA HEATER: Shall be Amerec Model________ , sized
according to the size room as shown on page 12. Heater shall be UL listed.
Shall include olivine igneous rocks.
CONTROLS: Shall be Amerec Model________ , UL listed, and
matched with heater according to charts on page 12.
FLOOR: Floor shall be of cement, ceramic tile, or similar
waterproof type (no carpeting). Removable wooden duckboard is
provided
for walk area in front of benches.
LIGHT: Shall be wall-mounted, UL listed, vapor-proof
frosted white globe with satin finish, neoprene gasket, brushed aluminum
base. Low voltage lighting available.
ACCESSORIES: All sauna packages include standard
accessories of thermometer, wood bucket, wood ladle, head and back rests,
duckboards and wall light. A wide range of additional accessories are
available.
DESIGN ASSISTANCE: Amerec’s design staff will gladly offer
any assistance you may require when designing or specifying sauna rooms
and heaters, steambaths and steam generators. CAD design service
available.
